X here, dropping in as Art/Finance mod and resident dad joke specialist. This will be my first zine for this Fandom, but no worries! I've also got a lot of good technical experience, as well as previous zine experience in other fandoms. I have experience in merchandise production, purchasing, and printing. All stages and processes of zinemaking are under my belt (the only thing I'm lacking is socials).I've participated in numerous zines (less than Cat) and bangs/exchanges (more than Cat, lol). Contributor applications wopen until October 10th!Artists: For this project we are looking for 25 artists to work on page art for Sun, Moon, Ascendant!We will be looking at color, style, backgrounds, overall composition and an understanding of anatomy. We won't be looking for a specific style in your application, but rather an understanding of fundamentals and overall pleasing aesthetics.
NSFW samples are allowed so long as they are properly tagged. One NSFW sample is suggested if you are interested in working on the optional addon, though it is not required.Artists are not required to have a piece that features the Big Three, but it is heavily suggested. One sample that features My Hero Academia characters will be required.
Artists Apply here!Writers/Poets: For this project we are looking for 10 writers to work on Sun, Moon, Ascendant!We will be looking at your ability to write a compelling short story, regardless of the content you normally write. We want good examples of characterization, grammar, punctuation and the ability to write a compelling short story. Big Three samples are not required but heavily suggested.
NSFW samples are allowed so long as they are properly tagged. One NSFW sample is suggested if you are interested in working on the optional addon, though it is not required.Writers are not required to have a piece that features the Big Three, but it is heavily suggested. One sample that features My Hero Academia characters will be required.We are accepting other formats besides traditional fiction. Poems and other short format may be 250-500 words. 2-4 short format submissions will be required from a single writer if accepted. Traditional fiction pieces will be 1500-2000 words.

Merch Artists Apply here!Cosplayers: Accuracy and quality of your costume are the primary focus of judgment. We also will be looking at the representation of color, style, background and understanding of composition. If you are making a cosplay specifically for this zine, let us know the details and give us a good understanding of what you want to contribute as well as previous cosplays you have designed. Judgments will not be made on the physical attributes of the cosplayer, themselves, but the cosplay and composition alone.

Tell us what you want to contribute and how you plan to accomplish it. We want to include people who are good at what they do and if you think you will fit into our zine, there is no harm in applying. Please use the application that closest resembles the work you are wanting to create for the zine.

Q: Is this zine for profit?A: This is a non-profit zine. All of the money outside of production cost will go directly to our charity of choice.Q: What charity are you donating to?A: As of this moment, we are still researching several charities. We are looking to find a charity with a focus on something we would definite as heroic (IE, something a hero would dedicate their life/money to) or something benefitting the LGBTQIA+ community.Q: SFW or NSFW?A: The printed zine will be SFW, allowing contributors aged 16 and up. That being said, there is the potential for creating a digital-only NSFW version that will be locked exclusively to those 18 and above. The creation of the NSFW addon depends on both interest check and contributor motivation. As for exactly how SFW we are going, we are limiting blood, gore and profanity to a PG13 (or T for teen) rating. If it is canon typical, it will be allowed.Q: Will this Zine be digital or physical?A: We are going to be offering both!Q: How many artists, cosplayers and writers will you be accepting?A: Currently, we are looking to fill slots for approximately 25 artists, 5 merch artists, and 10 writers. These numbers are subject to change depending on the number of applications we receive for each medium and space limitations.Q: Are you accepting Cosplayers or other visual arts or other mediums besides fanfictions?A: Do you do a wonderful Mirio cosplay? Got that perfect paper doll of our favorite three? Have a poem idea that will bring us to our knees crying or laughing for joy? Apply and we will find the place for you if your application is accepted! Visual arts of any kind will be considered an ‘artist’ spot and written arts a ‘writer’ position.Q: AU, Canon, Ships and OCs?A: The theme of our zine is astrology. We want to have the theme consistently present among submissions, but don’t care if that theme takes place in an AU, canon or canon divergent. We are allowing ships so long as the ships are not the focus of the piece (ie Mirio and Tamaki are a couple, but the story is about the Big Three going on an adventure to find a lost star). We will not be accepting stories focusing on dates, weddings, or get together stories. Background ships are allowed if they are only glazed over. We will not be allowing OCs except for those that do not impact the main storyline (making up a unique villain to fight is fine, for example, so long as the villain is not the main character of the story, as is naming parents, pets or the town herbalist, but inputting a character that is a best friend/child/love interest to be a main character is not.)Q: Can I put multiple pieces into the zine?A: Unfortunately, we are currently limiting each participant to one piece. This is, of course, also subject to how many applicants are accepted as well as the format of the piece. A comic will only count as one piece, and a short format writing such as letters may be broken up throughout the zine but still count as one piece.We will decide on one artist to do the cover and this will count as that artist’s in-zine piece. Merch artists will be responsible for 2-3 pieces, some of which may be digital merch.Q: Do I need a Discord account to be part of the zine?A: A Discord account is required for all contributors. If you do not have one upon acceptance, you will be required to create one, as this will be our main form of communication. If you need guidance, the moderators can easily help you set one up.Upon acceptance, you will be given a link to join the zine’s Discord server. Check-ins will be conducted via this server as well as announcements of any changes that may occur to the project (schedule, etc.), so it is important that you keep up to date with what’s going on in the server and any relevant notifications.Q: What if something happens and I’m having trouble with the due dates?A: Communication is important. Please ensure that you notify the moderator team ASAP if you are unable to meet a check-in date, if you need to drop out, or if anything else may change with your availability. We are willing to work with you if you happen to need an extension at any time. Non-responsive participants may be subject to being let go from the project if contact cannot be established within a certain timeframe.Q: Will there be an age minimum to apply?A: The Minimum age to apply will be 16 for in zine content and the minimum age for NSFW add on content will be 18. If anyone under 18 does get accepted to the zine, I will need parental confirmation before sending out the zine gratis package so as to make sure the zine doesn’t incur any legal repercussions.Q: How strong does the astrology theme have to be for the piece to qualify?A: Something to the effect of It has to be related to stars, space, astrology, or the zodiac. Specific pitches can be discussed once accepted into the zine!Q: I have a question, but it’s not on here…A: If you have any questions and we haven’t covered it, please ask.
